I recently started playing World of Warships: Legends on the PS4, and I’ve got to say—I was impressed. I had seen ads for World of Tanks and other Wargaming titles, but I never gave them a real shot. Then PlayStation started promoting Warships: Legends, and I gave in. Honestly, I wish I had tried it sooner.
The game doesn’t give much of a tutorial. At first, it feels like basic point-and-shoot gameplay. You pick a ship, jump into either PvE co-op matches or PvP battles, and that's it. But after about 100 matches, I realized there’s a lot more depth. Strategy, positioning, timing, and predicting enemy moves are key to winning.
Each battle feels different. You're not just shooting—you're managing reloads, avoiding enemy fire, and using terrain to your advantage. Your guns take time to reload, so if you get caught broadside, you’re in trouble. Moving in and out of cover while planning your next strike is the real challenge.
Destroyers are the fastest ships in the game. They're small, agile, and can deal massive damage with torpedoes. But they’re fragile—one wrong move and you’re out. These ships are best used for surprise attacks or spotting enemies for your team. Stay close to cover and don’t go charging into heavy fire. Hunt isolated enemies or support the fleet with scouting and quick strikes.
Cruisers are the middle ground between destroyers and battleships. They’re versatile, decent in speed and firepower, and great for support roles. You can deal with destroyers, support battleships, and hold key points on the map. But like with all ships, staying mobile and aware of your surroundings is crucial.
Battleships are slow but powerful. Their massive guns can destroy most ships in a few shots. But they’re slow to reload, aim, and turn. Getting caught by torpedoes or hit from the side can end your match fast. Battleships need planning, map awareness, and careful positioning. When used right, they can control the flow of battle.
Each nation in World of Warships: Legends brings unique ship types. For example:
Your choice of navy affects how you play. It also impacts tech upgrades and research paths. Pick a nation that fits your style—aggressive, defensive, or support.
The game is clearly competitive. The PvP focus, mix of strategy and reflexes, and variety of ships give it real potential for Esports. While Legends may not yet have a huge player base like other Esports titles, the World of Warships franchise is growing. With more attention and support, it could become a part of the competitive gaming scene.
World of Warships: Legends is more than just a naval shooter. It’s a strategy game wrapped in action, with deep mechanics and rewarding gameplay. Whether you like fast-paced battles or slow, methodical planning, this game has something for everyone. It’s definitely worth trying—especially if you're a fan of military games or team-based PvP.
